Wedding Checklist

  • Use recycled paper for your invitations
  • Disposable flashlights for guest favors (it’s dark getting back to your cars)
  • Use small insect repellent swabs/wipes for favors or make your own herbal bug repellent and put it in handy spray bottles left around your reception site so guests may help themselves as needed..
  • Use small sunscreen tubes as favors
  • Give grass or bird seed sachets to throw in place of traditional rice
  • Have baskets with above as guest place favors
  • Reduce plastic & paper consumption (and disposal of same) by using glass pitchers, permanent dinnerware for your tables, cloth napkins, glass bottles instead of aluminum cans
  • Make use of recycling containers for guests’ use.
  • Carpool to reduce fuel consumption and the impact on the land.
  • Reduce number of rental chairs by using straw bales for occasional barn seating
  • Suggest that people stand for the ceremony using just a few chairs for elderly or infirm.
  • Ask your caterer if they will use bio-degradable trash bags
  • Get extra white Xmas lighting on sale after the holidays for use in your tent(s) and for barn decoration
  • Use caterers that incorporate grass fed meats in their menu and use locally grown, organic veggies and fruits
  • Suggest the purchase of renewable carbon offsets as a wedding present instead of ending up with 3 toasters.
  • Buy vintage clothing and have it refitted
  • Plan on using wedding  resale websites to “pass on” wedding paraphernalia that you no longer need or want.
