Accommodations
Tucked away amongst towering trees and gardens, our two-hundred-year-old stone manor house is reminiscent of rustic manors of Tuscany. From the endless sky above you to the acres of meadows stretching to the horizon, the expansiveness of the space washes over you. The only sounds you hear are the chirping of native birds, the wind in the trees and your own feet climbing the stone steps. As our only guest, you have just arrived at your own private estate; you or your group are welcome to use our entire facility. Step into the main hall, warm in color and spacious in design. To your right is a sun-filled music room whose centerpiece is an antique Chickering concert grand piano. This magnificent instrument is available for use as part of the basic package. On your left, our great room is complete with a fully stocked library and dining table. This room can also be meeting space for you and your group. The three large windows in each room invite the day’s beautiful light and spectacular views in any season. Moving down the hallFurther along the hall you will come to a richly-colored and textured room with the main fireplace as its focus. The combination sofa/trundle bed quickly transforms into two single units and is directly across the hall from an accessible, fully-tiled shower and bathroom.
A beautiful, private art galleryUp the wide central staircase, you will notice the art that graces the walls, forming a beautiful, private gallery for your viewing pleasure. Both national and regional artists are represented in the collection, much of the art work is available for purchase. Proceeding into the second floor hallway you have your choice of 4 rooms. A view you're sure to rememberA balcony with a spectacular view across the valley to the Susquehanna graces one bedroom. Its handmade armoire, en suite bath, and queen-size bed, boasting an artful chestnut, walnut and maple headboard, nine feet high, has made this room a favorite. A second bedroom, a "lady’s room," has an equine theme reflected in its double brass bed, fainting couch, roll top desk, horse prints and gossamer curtains. This easterly facing room looks out onto rolling hills and open fields frequently dotted with deer and raptors circling overhead. A third bedroom, with two single beds, a gas fireplace and cozy rockers, faces north and has a charming view of the main garden with its picket fence and rose trellis gate. A three-acre horse paddock and the hills that cradle the farm furnish the backdrop for this peaceful view.
The fourth room, with southern and western exposures, has a main room and an anteroom. The main room is graced by a beautiful double walnut Victorian suite, and the anteroom, with library and club chair, holds a single brass bed. This suite has its own bath. Whichever space you choose, you will always find fresh flowers and a complimentary bottle of wine (with a 2 night stay) waiting for you in your room. There is no schedule but yoursMeals can be served simply, continental style on the huge marble sideboard, or you may elect to have a full, sit-down service complete with candles, flowers, antique linens, crystal, and silver. You decide when, where and how you would prefer your meals. An evening stroll around the property affords an unhampered view of the nighttime sky. Stargazing is often an unexpected treat for visitors more accustomed to brighter city lights. Take off your shoes, spread out, get comfortable, and make yourself at home. You’re here. |
